Intel introduced the new Atom N470 netbook CPU back in September and then Lenovo showed off its S10-3t with the new processor at CES, but chipzilla’s taking the time today to give its newest Pine Trail CPU a proper unveil. The 1.83GHz N470 joins the 1.66GHz N450 as an option for netbooks, and like the [...]

Intel chief executive Paul Otellini said that consumer spending led to a turnaround in computer purchases in the fourth quarter. That, in turn, led to one of Intel’s most profitable quarters ever.
Otellini said server chip sales were strong thanks to a product refresh cycle. Intel launched its Nehalem-based server chips in the spring and stayed [...]

Throwing cold water on hopes for a powerful tech recovery, economists are predicting that the worldwide consumer electronics market sales will be flat at $681 billion in 2010. That compares to a 2 percent decline in 2009, according to the forecast and sales report by the Consumer Electronics Association.
The forecast is surprisingly pessimistic, coming from [...]

Well, here we go: NVIDIA just gave us the heads-up that the next generation of Ion chips (which we’ll be calling Ion 2 until it gets a proper name) will be compatible with Intel’s new Pine Trail platform and arriving in Q1 of 2010. That’s good news, seeing as the Pine Trail-based Eee PC 1005PE [...]

By our count ASUS has released — at the very least — 20 Eee PC netbooks since 2008. Some had 8.9-inch or 10-inch displays, some ran Xandros Linux or Windows XP, and some packed hard drives instead of flash storage. But common to virtually all of them was an Intel Diamondville 1.6GHz Atom N270 or [...]

Get ready for the next generation of netbooks and nettops: Intel’s just officially announced the Pine Trail Atom N450, D410, and D510, along with the NM10 Express chipset, and we should see over 80 machines with the 45-nanometer chips at CES 2010. Nothing too surprising about the 1.66GHz chips themselves, which integrate the memory controller [...]

It’s looking all-but-official that Google is developing a smartphone of its own using its Android operating system, as reported in TechCrunch last month.
All Google has said officially is that it has developed a “mobile lab” device that “combines innovative hardware from a partner with software that runs on Android,” and that employees are “dogfood” testing [...]
